ORIGIN
BDA Architecture has a proud tradition of service in the Gold Coast Region.
Malcolm Cummings founded Cummings and Burns with partner Paul Burns in the early 1980s. The practice developed a strong residential design profile which was consolidated with the appointment of Cummings and Burns as the Australian architects for the pioneering master-planned community of Sanctuary Cove.
With the semi-retirement of Malcolm Cummings from the practice in the mid 90's, Paul Burns established Burns Design Architecture, with a focus on urban design, residential master-planning, waterfront and marina developments.
The practice grew with the arrival of new design director Steve McCracken and Peter Devenport in 2003.Â
The further addition of new directors, Cameron Thiessen, Darren Greenaway, Endang Lugowski and Adam Beck saw the practice outgrow its Mermaid Beach office and relocate to new studio premises in Broadbeach 2007.
We are proud of our history, our architectural legacy to date and look forward to maintaining and growing our role as one of Queensland’s leading regional practices.
